Every collection environment is unique. Charp allows users to define climate thresholds for each monitored location. Whenever measurements fall outside these limits, alerts are sent by email or SMS, allowing staff to respond quickly. By mapping against current conservation guidelines, it shows where a climate band can safely be widened to lower energy use.
The platform is designed around the daily work of conservation professionals. Whether walking through galleries and storage spaces or reviewing conditions remotely, users can easily navigate between buildings, rooms, display cases, and sensors. Over time, notes attached to measurements and events create a shared institutional record, preserving the context behind incidents, interventions, and observations for future reference. The platform allows to clearly communicate with institution members and external partners.
Charp offers more than a digital platform. The loggers are designed to minimise the visual impact of monitoring on exhibition scenography and facilitate mounting in storage areas and metallic shelves. We designed them so their appearance remains neutral and unassuming, while keeping aesthetics in mind. The aim is simplicity, but it depends on ongoing work: refining both hardware and software, using high-quality sensors, and developing clear analysis tailored to the needs of preventive conservation. By listening closely to our users, we aim to shape new features and practical improvements grounded in the realities of collection care.
