Company Description

Founded in Ghent in 1826, MEYVAERT is a world-leading specialist in museum showcases and integrated display solutions. From bespoke, highly engineered cases to modular and freestanding systems, we help museums, architects, exhibition designers and contractors present, preserve and protect collections without compromising the visitor experience. More than 2,000 installations in over 70 countries reflect our combination of conservation knowledge, glass expertise, precision engineering, craftsmanship and worldwide project delivery.

Our work ranges from landmark cultural institutions to some of the most demanding object-specific commissions. For the British Museum’s 2026 exhibition of the world-famous Bayeux Tapestry, MEYVAERT engineered and built, in record time, a purpose-designed showcase almost 70 metres long. It enables the exceptionally fragile, nearly 1,000-year-old embroidery to be displayed horizontally in one continuous line, while meeting the highest requirements for conservation, security and public access. The project exemplifies what we do best: translating an extraordinary curatorial ambition into an elegant, buildable and dependable technical solution through close collaboration with conservators, designers and museum teams.

The 2026 IIC Congress takes place in our home city of Ghent, also home to another treasure of world heritage: the Ghent Altarpiece, or The Adoration of the Mystic Lamb, by Hubert and Jan van Eyck. At St Bavo’s Cathedral, MEYVAERT created its monumental conditioned display case: a six-metre-high, 100 m³ climate chamber with heated security glazing, climate buffering and a pneumatically controlled support structure that allows the wings to open and close safely.

Across every project, our purpose remains constant: to make the engineering almost invisible, so that the collection and its story take centre stage. Have a look at our global portfolio of custom projects on: https://www.meyvaert.com/en/references.
